Neuropsychology Assessments.

When might an assessment be useful?

Neuropsychological Assessment can be useful for young people with a range of confirmed and/or suspected brain-based conditions, such as:

  • Neurodevelopmental disorders: Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) such as Dyslexia

  • Acquired neurological conditions: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); Brain infections such as Encephalitis, Meningitis; Paediatric Brain Tumours.

  • Neurological disorders: Epilepsy, Tourette’s Syndrome.

  • Genetic and metabolic conditions: Fragile X, Neurofibromatosis (NF1).

  • Exposures to substances in utero: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

  • Complex health conditions: Pre-term birth, Congenital heart disease.

Depending on your referral question, the age of your young person, and any pre-existing conditions, the nature and amount of tests necessary will vary significantly. Our Clinical Neuropsychologists apply their specialised knowledge of brain and cognitive development to tailor assessments to your needs and will discuss with you the recommended course of action.

In order to…

PROVIDE…

Diagnosis of neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders, if appropriate.

Strategies and recommendations to help maximise everyday functioning.

Education to those involved in a child’s care about the impact of brain injury or illness on functioning.

Assessments Time & Costs.

It's important to understand that estimating the timing and costs of a neuropsychological assessment vary significantly depending on a several factors.

Our assessments are tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances, so there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The length and the associated costs will depend on factors such as complexity, the referral question, and the number and types of tests needed to validly evaluate your question.

We will work closely with you to provide an accurate estimate of timing and costs.
